Frugal OPTIMUS

The concept of “Frugal OPTIMUS” was inspired by the great success story of the “Renault and Nissan” alliance in the automobile industry. Nissan was dramatically revived from its debt-ridden bankrupt state into one of the best-performing companies in Japan, subsequently instrumental in creating one of the great alliances in the automobile industry with Renault and later with Mistubishi. The revival strategy adopted by Nissan was to strictly look into the organisation's internal solutions for their problems over solutions from outside which eventually turned the material, financial and institutional business constraints into innovations, fuelling the growth of the business.

The evolution of Frugal OPTIMUS focused on elevating the Small & Medium Entrepreneur (SME) sector in Sri Lanka enhancing the business knowledge and pragmatic solutions of innovations. A debt-ridden & bankrupt economy in the 21^st century demands a strategy similar to Nissan in the automobile industry. Therefore Frugal OPTIMUS drives in the motive that history is the great teacher. History is our past secretly hiding solutions to our problems which could be well devised with careful investigation and analysis.

Sri Lanka inherits great history which expands across more than 2500 years of written history. The great secrets of science and technology are starting to surface with the advent of the ability to decode the ancient monuments, folk tales, written documentations of ‘puskola’ & rock inscriptions. A traditional society is structured in a manner that boosts and sustains the SME industries within the neighbourhoods. The supply chain was well sustained with abundant resources within the neighbourhood itself.

Therefore, Frugal OPTIMUS investigates traditional industries which are now dying state to identify the science and technology underneath to develop pragmatic, innovative and optimum solutions for the needs of resource-scared modern society. We passionately believe such innovations would greatly accelerate the progress of technology-driven modern society.
